Perhaps you’ve already experienced a European summer along the coasts of Italy, Spain, or Portugal. You long to return, but you want it to feel new, elevated, and entirely your own. One of the most exciting developments? Orient Express is setting sail. Long celebrated for its legendary train journeys, the brand is now bringing its unmistakable elegance to the water with the launch of its sailing yacht in June 2026. With just 110 guests on board, it will feel more like a floating boutique hotel than a cruise.
These journeys at sea are also wonderfully versatile. Some are family-friendly, offering dedicated children’s programming and thoughtfully designed spaces for younger travelers so you can enjoy both connection and relaxation.
For those drawn to wellness, certain sailings, especially with Aman, take a more holistic approach, featuring tranquil spa environments, hammams, steam rooms, and state-of-the-art fitness studios.
River Cruises and Holiday Markets
Already thinking about post-summer travel? I would be remiss not to mention the magic of river cruising during the holidays. Sail along the Danube or Rhine and step directly into Europe’s most enchanting Christmas markets. In November and December, these journeys offer a festive, immersive experience complete with twinkling lights, mulled wine, and storybook towns.
