CIRE Travel Corporate & Entertainment Travel Manager Robyn Panaccione recently participated in a unique test of a new digital health pass developed to promote safer travel in the time of Covid. In a global initiative to facilitate air and cross-border travel, Robyn and other executives from CIRE’s parent company, Internova, joined The Commons Project Foundation in successfully testing its CommonPass app used by travelers to verify their Covid-19 test status.
Robyn downloaded the CommonPass app, and then hopped on an overnight, round-trip flight on United Airlines from Newark to Heathrow. On arrival in London, she took a Covid test, and in less than an hour, the (negative!) results were sent to the app on her phone. Robyn showed the results to security and airline personnel who scanned the QR code on the app. She was then approved to board and got right back on the plane to fly home. Upon landing in Newark, she again presented the negative results on her app to Customs & Border Protection officers. Robyn was the ONLY travel agent participating in this test.
At CIRE Travel, our clients’ safety and well-being is our top priority. We’re excited about this emerging technology as a possible long-term solution to replace travel bans and quarantines with the ability to verify individual health and test result data while maintaining privacy standards.
