Our Favorite Places: Old Stone Farm, Rhinebeck, New York

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Old Stone Farm was recently purchased and is undergoing a renovation/transformation.  We’ll keep you posted when it opens again.

Old Stone Farm is a luxury country inn, retreat, and wellness center, quite different than your average Hudson Valley Resort. The Farm’s slogan is “A Field of Dreams for Body, Mind and Spirit.” And never have truer words been used to describe your stay.

Four things I love about Old Stone Farm

  • The 200-year-old farm is restored with impeccable care, preserving its authentic 18th and 19th century historical buildings.
  • There are a variety of weekend retreats (yoga, meditation, grief, whole body healing, etc.), on-site spa services and activities that make it a valuable and transformative experience.
  • As a working farm, horses are a key aspect of the experience. The proprietors love and respect them as intelligent beings and see them as a way guests can connect with others and themselves.
  • Meals are prepared with local and organic ingredients whenever possible, so the menu changes daily and all meals and snacks are included in the room price.

The story behind Old Stone Farm

Sherry and Stu Kahn founded Old Stone Farm, a wellness and education center dedicated to social awakening through personal transformation. Opened in 2013, it is already renowned as a sanctuary for spiritual development, deep education, entrepreneurship, and global change in an environment of natural beauty.

Sherry restored the 200-year-old farm with impeccable care, personally selecting the antique furnishings and art, maintaining much of Old Stone Farm’s history, while powering it with environmentally sustainable solar and geothermal energy.

Stu was a successful businessman who passed in 2012. He dreamed of making Old Stone Farm a world-class meeting place to foster positive social change through personal awakening and fellowship with peers. Along with Sherry’s lifelong passion for energy healing, yoga, physical wellness and the intuitive arts, Stu’s vision is the soul of Old Stone Farm’s mission and the healing experience for guests.
